Who invented chocolate chip cookies?

Thank the cooks at a country inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Around 1930, they put together a recipe combining bits of chocolate with cookie dough. The cookie was crunchy, buttery, and it tasted like candy, too! The combination is so simple and delicious that it’s amazing no one ever thought of it before.

How did the black widow spider get its name?

By her nasty reputation. The black widow is a female spider that often eats the male she mates with! So when she kills her “husband”, she becomes a “widow” – and a wicked one at that. Her venom is 15 times stronger than a rattlesnake’s!

Are all snakes POISONOUS?

No. Snakes have a bad reputation because of the few poisonous one. Of the 2,700 snake species, only about 400 are poisonous. Fewer than 50 kinds are dangerous to people. Most snakes will avoid people if at all possible. And most people will avoid snakes! The anaconda, weighing up to 400 pounds, is not poisonous but can squeeze the life out of a crocodile.
